Who We Are
Agrilink Empowerment Network (ALEN) is a Kenyan non-profit organisation working with smallholder farmers, rural communities, women, and youth on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, water and sanitation, and clean energy.
We help communities build stronger livelihoods, better food and nutrition security, and climate resilience by connecting them with the knowledge, technologies, markets, and opportunities they need.
We believe resilient communities come from managing resources well and including everyone in that work. ALEN connects people, ideas, and partnerships to drive change in agriculture and environmental stewardship.
ALEN runs integrated development programmes that tackle food insecurity, poverty, environmental degradation, climate change, poor water and sanitation, and limited access to clean energy.

ALEN believes that sustainable development is achieved through partnerships, innovation, community ownership, and evidence-based programming.
We work collaboratively with communities, governments, development partners, and the private sector to design and implement practical solutions.
We look for new ideas, tools, and approaches that speed up agricultural development and community resilience.
We believe change has to come from within. Communities help design, deliver, and own the work we do together.
Research, learning, and data shape our programmes. We track what works and change course when it doesn't.
Our Team
Sylvester brings over 14 years of experience in agricultural development, food systems, and inclusive markets across Eastern and Southern Africa. His work has included project and MEL leadership roles with the Agricultural Market Development Trust (AGMARK), the Centre for Behaviour Change and Communication (CBCC), and Rural Outreach Africa, spanning Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Zambia, and Malawi.
He holds an MSc in Environmental Science from Kenyatta University, has published peer-reviewed research on soil fertility management and indigenous food crops in western Kenya, and has served since 2015 as a technical reviewer for the African Journal of Food, Agriculture and Nutrition. ALEN draws on that same field-tested, evidence-based approach as it builds its own programmes from the ground up.

Stephen Muia
Chair of the Board
Stephen is a Carbon Officer at UNOPS, where he leads embodied-carbon life-cycle assessments for infrastructure projects across sub-Saharan Africa. He has over 11 years of experience in environmental management, carbon auditing, and occupational safety and health, and holds an MSc in Environmental Management from The Open University and a BSc (Hons) from Egerton University.

Moses Salim Mukabana
Finance Officer
Moses combines a background in finance with experience in agricultural communications, having worked as a social media and communications strategist for Rural Outreach Africa and the African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development (AJFAND) before moving into financial management. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Kenyatta University.

Consolata Musita
Board Member
Consolata is a PhD research fellow focused on nutrition, food environments, and consumer behaviour, with experience coordinating food-system and nutrition interventions across Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia, Ghana, and Benin. She has published peer-reviewed research on food safety in Kenya and was a guest lecturer at Justus Liebig University, Germany, and Utrecht University, Netherlands.

Samuel Kennedy Onyoso
Board Member
Samuel specialises in e-learning and instructional design, having designed and deployed learning management system platforms for governmental and non-governmental organisations across Africa that have reached over 100,000 learners. His work focuses on digital training in multicultural, low-connectivity, and fragile environments.
