Community members gathered in a field

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026

This policy explains how Agrilink Empowerment Network (ALEN) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit agrilinkafrica.org. It applies to this website only. It doesn't cover how we handle information gathered through our field programmes, paper forms, or in-person work with communities, which are governed by separate programme safeguarding policies.

Who we are

Agrilink Empowerment Network (ALEN) is a registered non-profit organisation in Kenya. You can reach us at 9 Planets Apartments, Block V2, Kabarnet Gardens, Off Kabarnet Road (Off Ngong Road), P.O. Box 29086-00625, Nairobi, Kenya, or atinfo@agrilinkafrica.org.

Information we collect

We collect information in a few ways:

  • Information you give us directly: when you use our contact form or partnership enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, organisation (where applicable), and the content of your message.
  • Information collected automatically: our hosting provider logs standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, which helps us keep the site running securely. We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (see “Analytics” below). We do not run advertising tracking on this site.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to enquiries submitted through our contact and partnership forms
  • Discuss donations, partnerships, volunteering, or media requests you've raised with us
  • Keep the website secure and working properly
  • Meet legal or regulatory obligations where required

Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and building relationships with partners and supporters, or your consent where you've given it (for example, by submitting a form or by allowing analytics cookies). We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies and embedded content

This site uses a limited number of cookies, from an embedded Google Map on our Contact page and from Google Analytics. Full details are in ourCookie Policy. Embedded content and third-party tools like these may collect data about your visit independently of ALEN, governed by the third party's own privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site: which pages are read, roughly how many people visit, and how they found us. This is aggregated, statistical information; we haven't enabled features that let Google Analytics identify you individually, and we don't combine analytics data with information you submit through our forms. See ourCookie Policyfor the specific cookies involved and how to opt out.

Who we share information with

We share information only where necessary:

  • Service providers: we use Brevo to deliver messages submitted through our website forms to our team's inbox, and Google Analytics to understand site usage. Both process this data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by Kenyan law or a valid request from a public authority.

Brevo and Google both process data outside Kenya. Where this happens, they rely on their own cross-border transfer safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses. See their respective privacy policies for details.

How long we keep your information

We keep messages submitted through our contact and partnership forms for as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your enquiry, and then delete or anonymise them once they're no longer needed, unless we're required to keep them longer for legal or accounting reasons.

Your rights

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019, and depending on applicable law where you're located, you may have the right to ask us to:

  • Confirm what personal information we hold about you and provide a copy
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your information
  • Restrict or object to how we use it

To exercise any of these rights, contact us atinfo@agrilinkafrica.org. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), or with your own country's data protection authority if you're located outside Kenya.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS, and we take reasonable technical measures to protect information submitted through our forms. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children through it. This is separate from the child safeguarding measures that apply to ALEN's field programmes.

Links to other websites

Our site may link to other websites, such as our partners' or team members' LinkedIn profiles. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of sites we don't operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date above.
